Industrial Painting

United Painting provides industrial painting for industrial buildings, structural steel, piping, tanks and vessels, and utility and infrastructure components. The work covers new construction, maintenance and repainting, including painting inside facilities that remain in operation.

Industrial painting is the trade of painting industrial structures and assets. Where a project is defined by a specified protective coating system, the work is described under Industrial & Protective Coatings.

Operating facilities

Painting in operating facilities

Industrial painting often takes place in facilities that keep running. That work requires coordination with facility operations, other trades, access requirements, schedules and project-specific safety procedures. Crews work within the project specification and plan painting around facility requirements, project schedules and the other trades on site.

Execution

Shutdowns and outages

Some industrial painting, finishing and coating work has to fit within a shutdown, an outage or another tightly controlled schedule. Crews coordinate the work around project sequencing and site requirements.

Access and preparation

Access and preparation

Elevated work is carried out from scaffolding, boom lifts, scissor lifts and other aerial equipment, and confined-space work is performed by trained personnel following confined-space procedures. Before painting, surfaces are prepared to suit the system being applied, using methods that include self-performed abrasive blasting.
